CDP2 is the preparatory training company of Crash Dance Productions, for preteen, teen, and adult dancers. Dancers will train in CDP’s unique contemporary aesthetic, and learn repertory that will be performed at various shows throughout the year.

CDP2 is...

  • For dancers with prior experience in contemporary, ballet, modern, or jazz dance;

  • Comprised of two program levels, Corps (for high school dancers aged 14-18), and Apprentice (for adult dancers aged 18-23);

  • A year-long commitment; 

  • A tuition-based program;

  • For dancers committed to developing contemporary dance technique, deepening their knowledge of dance composition, and exploring improvisational movement practices;

  • A pre-professional program, with opportunities for guest performances, assisting, creating student choreography, and for learning roles with the professional company;

  • A supplemental program to dancers’ school/studio/team training, designed to enrich understanding of concert dance

All CDP2 classes and rehearsals take place at Hothouse, in the Mid-Industrial Park neighborhood of Northeast Minneapolis.

cdp2 2024-25 AUDITIONS

CDP2 is accepting video audition submissions for the 2024-25 season; select dancers will be invited to an in-studio callback and interview. To be considered for CDP2, please email the following to crashdanceproductions@gmail.com, by 11:59p on August 2 (extension!):

  • Email subject should read “Dancer’s name/ CDP2 audition."

  • Resume, in PDF format, with contact information, dance education, other relevant experience, and headshot.

  • Video audition, via Youtube link (do not send video as attachment).

    • 1-2 minute introduction: include your name, age, where you live, go to school, and/or train; tell us how you heard about us and why you’d like to be part of CDP2; tell us about the video work sample you’re submitting.

    • 3-5 minute contemporary, ballet, jazz, or modern dance work samples: include video footage from a performance or rehearsal, your dance reel, something you’ve prepared for this audition, or any combination of similar work samples.

Candidates may be invited to an in-person callback and interview. Callbacks take place during our weekly company technique class, Sundays 2:30-3:30p at Hothouse. Callbacks will include a candidate meeting, informal interview, and observation during a contemporary class.

We will invite dancers to callbacks on a rolling basis; if auditions are submitted before the July 31 deadline, candidates may be invited to a callback in the weeks following their submission. The last possible callback date is Sunday, August 4, 2:30-3:30p.

Dancers can bypass the video submission & callback process by attending our summer intensive, Crash Course. Register for Crash Course, and email us a letter of interest to inform us that you are auditioning for CDP2. To be considered for CDP2 during your participation in Crash Course, please email the following to crashdanceproductions@gmail.com by 11:59p on Sunday, August 4; or, bring a printed copy to the intensive:

  • Email subject should read “Dancer’s name/ CDP2 letter of interest"

  • Resume, in PDF format, with contact information, dance education, other relevant experience, and headshot.

  • 1-page letter of interest, in PDF format; tell us how you heard about us and why you’d like to be part of CDP2.

    *Candidates may be asked to interview with directors, during the intensive.

The company will be announced the week of August 26. The first day of CDP2 for the 2024-25 season is Sunday, September 8.

APPRENTICE

CDP2 APPRENTICE is an advanced, pre-professional program; dancers should have extensive experience in contemporary, ballet, modern, or jazz dance. The recommended ages for participants is 18-23.

CORPS

CDP2 CORPS is an advanced, pre-professional program; dancers should have prior experience in contemporary, ballet, modern, or jazz dance. The recommended ages for participants is 13-18 (grades 7-12).

REHEARSAL

TRAINING

Dancers are required to take weekly technique class before or after rehearsal on Sundays. Dancers can select their class weekly, to have the chance to take a variety of contemporary disciplines.

CONCERT
$870, paid as 6 installments of $145/month*

Tuition covers rehearsal space, choreography, instruction, technique class, costumes, show production, and incidental costs. There are never additional fees outside of monthly tuition. CDP2 members over the age of 18 may apply for work-study, to offset the cost of tuition.

CURRICULUM AND PERFORMANCES

CDP2 Corps is a year-long program, with 3 seasons: Concert, Student Showcase, and Company Show. Dancers must be accepted to CDP2 via pre-season audition; then, dancers may select the seasons in which they will participate upon acceptance. Participation in Concert season is required of all dancers, their first year in CDP2.

CONTRACT TERMS

Learn company repertory and premiere works to be performed in a run of full-company concerts.

—COMPANY SHOW—
June to August

Be cast in a remount of a Crash Dance Production, to be performed in a run of shows.

—STUDENT CHOREOGRAPHY—
February to May

Participate as a performer, or propose your own work to be composed and set on your peers. Perform at a formal showing.

Dancers must be able to attend rehearsals to participate in each term. Dancers who anticipate more than 1 absence per month are not eligible to participate in that term.

New! CDP2 Conservatory

CDP2 Conservatory is cohort-based, short-term, focused courses for dancers who are committed to preparing for a career in dance. Participation is a la carte: CDP2 members are able to register for courses that interest them, and work with their personal schedules and artistic goals. Meeting days, times, and lengths will vary.
